MEXICAN ECOSYSTEM PLEDGE

As an investor in entrepreneurial innovation, I recognize:

Entrepreneurial innovation needs the continued support of investors to maintain its role to generate jobs, productivity, enhance industries and push the frontiers of innovation to provide better goods and services for society.
A well functioning financial venture capital industry requires all the value chain to operate uninterruptedly, with Limited Partners, Funds of Funds, DFIs, Family Offices, CVCs, VCs and Angel Investors all being essential in their continuity.
In a post COVID-19 world, the entrepreneurial ecosystems will be an essential part of the economic rebound as well as a critical factor in imagining a more sustainable and prepared future.
Abusive behaviors occur in our industry not just because some believe it's no big deal, but also because those who do find it unacceptable don't do enough to actively discourage it.

Therefore, consistent with my mission and values, I acknowledge and pledge the following:

I will honor all my signed commitments to VC funds and startups and will deposit in agreed timing and conditions.
I will not take advantage of the lack of liquidity to structure unjustified and unfairly advantageous deals. Our terms will be based on a fair and reasonably objective evaluation of the company's performance, associated risk factors, and our fund's strategy. I will only sign new commitments that are fully actionable and that I can back.
If I see a venture capitalist behaving differently from this standard, I will disclose this information to my colleagues as appropriate.
I will stop doing business with VCs who engage in this behavior. LPs should stop investing. Entrepreneurs should stop considering those VCs.
I recognize that under current conditions, as always, my behavior must set an example of integrity and mutual respect, eliciting trust and esteem from the multiple stakeholders I serve. I will remain accountable to my peers and to society for my actions.

COMPROMISO DEL ECOSISTEMA MEXICANO

Como inversionista en innovación y emprendimiento, reconozco:

La innovación empresarial necesita el apoyo continuo de los inversionistas para mantener su papel de generar empleos, productividad, mejorar las industrias y empujar las fronteras de la innovación para proporcionar mejores bienes y servicios para la sociedad.
Una industria de capital de riesgo financiero que funcione bien requiere que toda la cadena de valor opere ininterrumpidamente, con Limited Partners, fondos de fondos, DFI, family offices, CVCs, Venture Capitals e inversionistas ángeles, todos ellos esenciales para su continuidad.
En un mundo posterior a COVID-19, los ecosistemas empresariales serán una parte esencial del repunte económico, así como un factor crítico para imaginar un futuro más sostenible y preparado.
Los comportamientos abusivos ocurren en nuestra industria no solo porque algunos creen que no es un gran problema, sino también porque aquellos que lo encuentran inaceptable no hacen lo suficiente para desalentarlo activamente.

Por lo tanto, de acuerdo con mi misión y valores, reconozco y prometo lo siguiente:

Cumpliré todos mis compromisos firmados con los fondos de Venture Capital y las startups y depositaré el capital en los plazos y condiciones acordados.
No aprovecharé la falta de liquidez para estructurar negocios injustificados ni ventajosos. Nuestros términos se basarán en una evaluación justa y razonablemente objetiva del desempeño de la compañía, los factores de riesgo asociados y la estrategia de nuestro fondo. Solo firmaré nuevos compromisos que sean completamente viables y que pueda respaldar.
Si veo que un inversionista de Venture Capital se comporta de manera diferente a este estándar, divulgaré esta información a mis colegas según corresponda.
Dejaré de hacer negocios con los VCs que se involucren en este comportamiento. Los LPs deben dejar de invertir en ellos. Los empresarios deben dejar de considerar esos VCs como opción de financiamiento.
Reconozco que, en las condiciones actuales, como siempre, mi comportamiento debe ser un ejemplo de integridad y respeto mutuo, generando confianza y estima a todos aquellos con los que laboro. Seguiré siendo responsable ante mis compañeros y ante la sociedad por mis acciones.
